CHART OF PROGRESS IN 76 DAYS ON 800 CALORIE, BALANCED PROTEIN AND CARB DIET

I  thought I would summarize the wonderful weight loss in 76 days, with this chart.  There are several identifiable points, where I had too much salt, and when I turned on the Vielight 810 after a week of no weight loss previously.

I was hungry for the first few days as I went to bed, but as my hunger shrank, so did my need for insulin.  I was previously on 28 units twice daily of Lantus.  During the diet, I only needed 10 units roughly once in three days.

Now that I am eating again, I am logging myself in at 1200 calories, balanced protein and carb.  This is effectively my maintenance diet for now.  I am anxious to see what increased ATP production from the Vielight will do for me over the next two months.  And I have my updated A1C to compare in
three months.

So, here is the chart:

I turned the Vielight on for the first time November 15th, after a week of no weight loss.  The sudden increase in the rate of weight loss returned.

DAY 76: 800 CAL DIET PLUS VIELIGHT 810 TO PUT DIABETES T2 INTO REMISSION WITH REAL FOOD

Ok, some guests arrived unexpectedly, and this is not the time to continue dieting.  I have lost 25 pounds, but I have not resolved the diabetes issue.  Between guests and the holidays, I just don’t have the time to pursue it.  So, I will be coming back in January, to do another 800 calorie diet to lose the weight I know I will gain. In the meantime, I will be adding low carb foods and portion controlling what I do in an effort not to regain much weight.  Stuff life cheese, eggs and nuts and more veggies will be added to the 800 calorie diet, in the same format.  No bread, just tortillas, keep up the protein, add blood sugar remedies as needed.  I will be going back up on my regular insulin, as needed. I hope not much.

Anyway, this has been a fun elevator ride down, and I do encourage others to go on the 800 calorie diet.  I also encourage the use of the Vielight 810.   I am glad to have gone through this experience and I will continue in January.  It is not that uncomfortable to lose weight this way.

I am adding calories up to 1000 today, but keeping net carbs below 30.

In short, I am adding 1 chicken sausage link to the basic diet dinner, with one ounce cheese.  I am adding 2 cups popcorn for lunch, along with the usual diet lunch.  Never forget green drink, raw veggies, and protein up.

We will post a chart of my weight loss, so do please check back again soon.  Good luck to all of us who want to try to put diabetes T2 into remission.

DAY 75: 800 CAL DIET PLUS VIELIGHT 810 TO PUT DIABETES T2 INTO REMISSION WITH REAL FOOD

Well, at least I did not gain any weight.  My fat percent is up, though, so I will have to look for another day for weight loss.  I can still outlast this. I am giving it until Dec. 15th, or 90 days on this diet.  After that, Christmas, New Years, and a new round of dieting is for me.

I get the feeling that the end of this diet will not see me in remission for diabetes.  That is OK, my pancreas has had a lot of surgery and damage.  .

I am happy to have lost the weight, and I am also happy to have the opportunity to rebuild my diet from the ground up.  I am keeping the format of 800 calories, and adding calories to it from starchy veggies, eggs, cheese, etc.  I am also happy to have shown that you can use real food plus a basic protein drink to lose the weight.  And I hope the menus come in handy for anyone else who wants to try.  And I am ecstatic about the Vielight 810.  It can continue improving my metabolism from here on.

So, here we go until Dec. 15th.  Here are my stats for today:

Weight 145.4    FBS 127 (10 IU insulin after lunch yesterday)   Fat% 33.6

And here is the menu:

BREAKFAST:  1/2 Slim-Fast Protein Drink

LUNCH:  Mission Carb Balance tortilla, 3 oz Mistica Ranch Cheez-it Coated Chicken Bites, romaine, raw veggies, Dole No Sugar Mandarin Orange Cup

DINNER:  1 whole Slim-Fast Protein Drink, salad, 5 Toasted Crackers, 6 walnut halves, 5 grapes

Total Calories 804, Total Fat 42 gm, Total Carbs 65 gm, Total Protein 51 gm, Total Fiber 23 gm, Total Net Carbs 42 gm.

DAY 74: 800 CAL DIET PLUS VIELIGHT 810 TO PUT DIABETES T2 INTO REMISSION WITH REAL FOOD

I seem to be bouncing around with 1/2 pound variation with no real weight loss this morning.  I can outlast this, though.

I wanted to talk a little about the fact that more and more people will learn that Type 2 diabetes is reversible, and give the 800 calorie diet a try.  Of course, I can recommend it, but I feel it is worth the money to buy the Vielight 810 as well.  Aside from reports of diabetic metabolism improving among customers, the Vielight 810 also can help with the other co-morbidities of diabetes, the neuropathy, blood pressure, and even depression.  I really feel that just about everyone will want one when they learn what it can do.  Of course, there are varying responses to the Vielight.  But there are no varying responses to the 800 calorie diet, so use both tools for maximum effect.  That is my plan.  It gives me courage on the days I don’t lose weight, like today.

So, here are my stats:

Weight:  145.4  FBS 146  Fat% 32.9

And here is the menu:

BREAKFAST:  1/2 Slim-Fast Protein Drink

LUNCH:   Mission Carb Balance Tortilla, 1 pc. Van De Kamps Breaded Fish for Sandwiches, romaine, raw veggies

DINNER:  1 whole Slim-Fast Protein Drink, salad, 5 Toasted Crackers, 4 pecan halves, 5 grapes

Total Calories 796, Total Fat 44 gm, Total Carbs 62 gm, Total Protein 48 gm, Total Fiber 21 gm, Total Net Carbs 41 gm.

DAY 73: 800 CAL DIET PLUS VIELIGHT 810 TO PUT DIABETES T2 INTO REMISSION WITH REAL FOOD

There was a small amount of weight loss this morning.  I can’t explain either the small weight gain yesterday or the small weight loss today.  It is all in the normal course of weight loss, I think, and I am on my way again with 1/2 pound gone.

Now that we know Diabetes T2 can be reversed, I have no choice but to pursue this to the end, which hopefully will be with the loss of a few more pounds.  I will be adding calories from low glycemic foods after I hit the last of the diet.  This is really the hardest part.  Not eating food is not nearly so hard as eating consciously.  Either way, I will have reduced need for insulin because I will not be allowing so much sugar and refined carbs.  And of course, I will be really happy to have lost the weight, so I will maintain it with new vision, and of course, my new ally, the Vielight 810.

So, here are my stats for today:

Weight 144.8    FBS 129 (10 IU insulin yesterday after lunch)   Fat% 32.6

And here is the menu:

BREAKFAST:  ½ Slim-Fast Protein Drink

LUNCH:  Mission Carb Balance tortilla, 2 oz Jack Daniels Thinly Sliced Brisket or 2 oz roast beef, romaine, raw veggies, 1 dried apricot

DINNER:  1 whole Slim-Fast Protein Drink, salad, 5 Toasted crackers, 5 walnut halves, 5 grapes

Total Calories 804, Total Fat 45 gm, Total Carbs 64, Total Protein 47 gm, Total Fiber 22 gm, Total Net Carbs 42 gm.

DAY 72: 800 CAL DIET PLUS VIELIGHT 810 TO PUT DIABETES T2 INTO REMISSION WITH REAL FOOD

Well, I guess we are taking a small break today, as my weight has gone up a little.  That is OK.  This whole diet has felt like a fast elevator ride down on my weight.  I just have to decide what floor to get off on, especially now that I am combining it with two Vielight 810 treatments per day.  I have been giving that some thought.

I had originally thought I would stop dieting at 140 pounds.  Now I am seeing that I need to diet until I reach the healthy fat percent for women over 50.  The healthy fat percent for women in general is 20 – 27%, and for women over 50 it is as much as 31%.  I am going to quit dieting when I am a solid 31%, not just a temporary flash reading on my Tanita scale.  The Vielight testimonials mention weight loss among users, so there will be room after the diet to let the Vielight 810 do it’s work and not go underweight.  Imagine.

Don’t forget to take the Amazing Greens drink today!

So, here are my stats for today:

Weight 145.4     FBS 145 (10IU insulin yesterday after lunch)    Fat% 33.4

And here is the menu:

BREAKFAST:  1/2 Slim-Fast Protein Drink

LUNCH:  Mission Carb Balance Tortilla, 1 link Sam’s Choice Chicken and Apple Sausage, romaine, raw veggies, small apple

DINNER:  1 whole Slim-Fast Protein Drink, salad, 5 Toasted Crackers, 5 walnut halves, 5 grapes

Total Calories 795, Total Fat 40 gm, Total Carbs 65 gm, Total Protein 55 gm, Total Fiber 24 gm, Total Net Carbs 41 gm.

DAY 71: 800 CAL DIET PLUS VIELIGHT 810 TO PUT DIABETES T2 INTO REMISSION WITH REAL FOOD

Oh, yes, the weight loss continues.  I lost almost another pound last night.  So the weight loss did not stop with the salt weight.

Speaking of salt, I have thought about the whole salt issue.  I have questions.  Why did I lose weight on salty soups for the first 7 weeks of the diet and have it stop for a week before the Vielight?  Why the sudden sensitivity to salt?

The answer for salt problems is always potassium.  They must be in balance for the cells in the body.  Potassium takes stuff out of the cells, and salt takes it in.  The simple answer is I may have had a severe potassium deficiency.  That would be the reason for sudden uptake of water weight on one meal.  A potassium deficiency could also be the reason for week 7 with no weight loss.  No way to get the stuff out because of a potassium deficiency.

So, I am adding a green drink daily.  I am using Amazing Greens Super Greens Original, with 30 calories per serving, available at Vitacost.com.  And I am adding raw veggies beyond the romaine at lunch.  There is always a salad for dinner, as well as fruit and nuts.  That should be enough with the salty soup taken out.  After I get my potassium levels up, I can probably lose weight on soup again.

Also, about the Vielight 810 and detox, I am pretty sure that since I am losing weight rapidly, the fat cells that are destroyed dump their toxins.  Many fat cells all at once dumping their toxins create detox symptoms.  Now I am quite sure that the waste products from the 800 calorie diet are coming out at an advanced rate compared to someone using the Vielight 810 without the diet. This is providing I don't eat too much salt, and add more potassium right now.

So, here are my stats:

Weight 144.6   FBS 152   Fat% 32.9

And here is the menu:

BREAKFAST:  1/2 Slim-Fast Protein Drink
LUNCH:  Mission Carb Balance Tortilla, 1/4 cup Marketside Tuna Salad, romaine, raw veggies, Dole Mandarin Orange No Sugar Added Mandarin Orange cup

DINNER:  1 whole Slim-Fast Protein Drink, salad, 5 Toasted crackers, 5 pecan halves, 5 grapes

Total Calories 795, Total Fat 48 gm, Total Carbs 57 gm, Total Protein 45 gm, Total Fiber 22 gm, Total Net Carbs 35 gm.

DAY 70: 800 CAL DIET PLUS VIELIGHT 810 TO PUT DIABETES T2 INTO REMISSION WITH REAL FOOD

Wow!  Another pound gone!  That makes up for the salt problem at Thanksgiving, and fast work!  Remember when I went through Week 7 without the Vielight 810 and had no weight loss?  It is really doing it’s job now.  I suspect the weight loss will slow down some tomorrow, when the task is to lose actual fat instead of just water from too much salt.

By the way, I emailed Lew Lim, the inventor of the Vielight.  I asked if there was a detox associated with it, and he replied that it effects people differently, but that detox had been reported.  I bet the combination of 800 calories and the light is making the detox greater.

And finally, I read an article that said that 80% of the weight you lose comes out in the form of your exhaled breath, and 20% is the normal excretory functions.  So, I guess we would have to include breathing out as an excretory function.

Here are my stats:

Weight 145.4   FBS 149  Fat% 33

And here is the menu:

BREAKFAST:  1/2 Slim-Fast Protein Drink

LUNCH:  Mission Carb Balance tortilla, 1/4 package Marketside Kung Pao Chicken, romaine, 2 dried apricots

DINNER:  1 whole Slim-Fast Protein Drink, salad, 5 Toasted crackers, 5 pecan halves, 5 grapes

DAY 69: 800 CAL DIET PLUS VIELIGHT 810 TO PUT DIABETES T2 INTO REMISSION WITH REAL FOOD

I lost another pound overnight!  The Vielight 810 is a Champeen O’ Justice for getting the water out after excess salt on Thanksgiving.  That makes 2.2 pounds I have lost since the salty peak of 148.4 two days ago.  I need to make it back to 145.4, only 1 more pound to recover from the salt.  I did not even have anything other than chef salad and a bowl of chicken noodle soup.  I paid dearly for the salt, as there were not enough calories to make a difference otherwise.

The soups have been ditched permanently from this diet, so if you do the this diet, take out the soups for dinner and have 6 pecan halves or walnut halves for the calories.  Everything else on the menu can stay the same.

Salt never put on the pounds before this.  I have become extremely sensitive to salt since losing all this weight.  But I have a new fighter on my side, The Vielight 810.  I don’t think I could lose the water weight from salt this rapidly without it.  The 800 calorie diet and the Vielight 810 are a combination that cannot be beat.

So, here are my stats for today:

Weight 146.4    FBS 127 (10 IU Lantus yesterday) Fat% 33.8

And here is the menu:

BREAKFAST:  1/2 Slim-Fast Protein Drink

LUNCH:  Mission Carb Balance tortilla, 2 oz Jack Daniels Thinly Sliced Beef Brisket or 2 oz roast beef, romaine, 1 dried apricot

DINNER:  1 whole Slim-Fast Protein Drink, salad, 5 Toasted Crackers, 5 walnut halves, 5 grapes

Total Calories 804, Total Fat 40 gm, Total Carbs 64 gm, Total Protein 47 gm, Total Fiber 22 gm, Total Net Carbs 42 gm.

DAY 68: 800 CAL DIET PLUS VIELIGHT 810 TO PUT DIABETES T2 INTO REMISSION WITH REAL FOOD

Well, the diet and Vielight 810 are helping me recover from that load of salty soup weight I gathered. I ditched the soup from the diet yesterday, and I lost 1.2 pounds of it this morning. It looks like the rest of the weight I gained will be off in a few days, as it is just water weight attracted by the salt.  But the Vielight 810 is still doing a wonderful job getting rid of the stuff I don’t need. Who knows what else it is doing?  The research is there for a number of ailments, but I am using it as a metabolic enhancer.  One of the reported effects is "optimization of diabetic metabolism" reported by a Russian study.

After each treatment with the Vielight 810, I can feel several things going on in my body.  I feel much more energy, and my tremors are lessening.  I can feel circulation returning to my feet.  But, best of all, the food I am eating is transiting my body more quickly, and thus, daily weight loss where that was not happening before Vielight 810.  After all, you only lose what you manage to excrete. You just can’t ask the Vielight 810 to protect you against what salt does. Now that we understand, we can move on. J

So, here are my stats with 1.2 pounds of the water weight gone.  I was down to 145.4, so I have a ways to go.

WEIGHT 147.4   FBS 165   Fat% 33.8

And here is the menu:

BREAKFAST:  1/2 Slim-Fast Protein Drink

LUNCH:  Mission Carb Balance tortilla, Van De Kamps Breaded Fish for Sandwiches, romaine, 5 grapes

DINNER:  1 whole Slim-Fast Protein Drink, salad, 5 Toasted crackers, 2 dried apricots

DAY 67: 800 CAL DIET PLUS VIELIGHT 810 TO PUT DIABETES T2 INTO REMISSION WITH REAL FOOD

The news is not good this morning.  My weight is up, although my fat percentage is down.  I am suspecting a salt intolerance developing as I lose weight.  The two instances where I gained weight like today are from the times I had salty stuff.  So, I am going to ditch the soup, which is the biggest source of salt, for the remainder of the diet.  We should see things move right along, for a couple of reasons.  First salt brings things in to the cells, and potassium takes it out.  Want more weight loss?  Eat more greens and ditch the salt.  And second, the carbs in the soup are kind of empty, and we won’t miss much nutrition.  The Newcastle Study warned against salt, but I was not sensitive to it like this until I lost this amount of weight.  It is nearly impossible to get rid of all salt in the American diet, but I can ditch the soup.

So, for the remainder of the time it takes me to lose down to 140, there will be more protein than net carbs in the diet.  This is OK, but it tends to leave you a little loopy, like a first phase Atkins dieting.  The brain actually needs carbs, but I think I can get enough without the soup.  As I only have a few more pounds to go, I will be fine. I am substituting 6 walnut halves for the soup.

So, here are my stats for today:

Weight 148.6   FBS 134 (10 IU Lantus last night)  Fat% 32.2

And here is the menu:

BREAKFAST:  1/2  Slim-Fast Protein Drink

LUNCH:  Mission Carb Balance tortilla, 1/4 container Marketside Kung Pao Chicken, romaine, 1 dried apricot

DINNER:  1 whole Slim-Fast Protein Drink, salad, 5 Toasted crackers, six walnut halves, 6 grapes

DAY 66: 800 CAL DIET PLUS VIELIGHT 810 TO PUT DIABETES T2 INTO REMISSION WITH REAL FOOD

Despite my best intentions, I gained one pound from Thanksgiving lunch.  I did order the chef salad, and the bowl of chicken soup, but the salad was huge and I ate all of it.  I am lucky I did not gain more.  But, just keep on going.

So, here are my stats with a 1 pound setback:

Weight 146.4    FBS 162 (no insulin yesterday)  Fat% 33.6

And here is the menu for the day:

BREAKFAST:  1/2 Slim-Fast Protein Drink

LUNCH:  Mission Carb Balance tortilla, 2 oz Jack Daniel’s Boneless Pork Ribs, romaine, 5 grapes

DINNER:  1 whole Slim-Fast Protein Drink, 1 cup Cugino’s Burgundy French Onion Soup, salad, 5 Toasted crackers

DAY 65: 800 CAL DIET PLUS VIELIGHT 810 TO PUT DIABETES T2 INTO REMISSION WITH REAL FOOD

Happy Thanksgiving, and please know that I am still on my diet.  We will go for lunch to a restaurant, where I will order a lunch sized chef salad, and a bowl of chicken noodle soup.  The salad has 22 gm protein, and the soup has 6 gm protein and 15 carbs.  That is equal to my regular diet dinner in calories and food composition, so I just need to switch lunch and dinner for Thanksgiving.  At least I don’t have to cook!

Here are my stats:

Weight  145.4  FBS 160 (Insulin after lunch today)  Fat% 32.9

So, here is the menu:

BREAKFAST:  1/2 Slim-Fast Protein Drink

LUNCH:  Small chef salad, bowl of chicken noodle soup

DINNER:  Mission Carb Balance tortilla, 3 oz Mistica Ranch Cheez-it Coated Chicken Bites, romaine, Dole Peach Cup

DAY 64: 800 CAL DIET PLUS VIELIGHT 810 TO PUT DIABETES T2 INTO REMISSION WITH REAL FOOD

I lost another pound this morning! Energy is good and no hunger.

So, I thought I would look at this diet in terms of food composition to help show how that is helping me to stay full on 800 calories.  You many notice that usually, the protein is more than carbs, or at least equal, and this puts around 50 gm protein in daily.  That is enough for just about anyone on a diet.  The net carbs are in balance with the protein, which keeps blood sugar stable. The fact that there are veggie carbs, and only low glycemic carbs in the tortilla and diet further keeps hunger away.  We don’t worry about fat too much, only in terms of calories, so usually less than 40 gm daily.   All of these are close enough to a normal diet that the body sort of goes down a checklist:  “Do I have enough fat? (yes)  Do I have enough protein? (yes)  Do I have enough carbs (just barely, but it will have to do, I can get the other calories from excess body fat.)  The fiber is around 25 gm daily, which is the minimum recommended by dieticians.  This is why I am not in “starvation mode”, where you don’t lose any weight on fewer calories for over a week.  My body has no chance to declare me starving and refuse to lose weight, to hang on to every ounce of food and water that it consumes in an effort to prevent starvation.  This is different from a pause, in a long and successful diet.

So here are my stats for today:

Weight 145.4   FBS 154  Fat% 33.2

And here is the menu:

BREAKFAST:  1/2 Slim-Fast Protein Drink

LUNCH:  Mission Carb Balance tortilla, 1/4 cup Marketside Tuna Salad, romaine, 5 grapes

DINNER:  1 whole Slim-Fast Protein Drink, 1 cup Progresso LIGHT Chicken and Cheese Enchilada soup, salad, 5 Toasted crackers

Total Calories 797, Total Fat 46 gm, Total Carbs 56 gm, Total Protein 56 gm, Total Fiber 22 gm, Total Net Carbs 34 gm.

DAY 63: 800 CAL DIET PLUS VIELIGHT 810 TO PUT DIABETES T2 INTO REMISSION WITH REAL FOOD

Lots of news this morning.  First, I lost 1.4 pounds again yesterday.  That makes 4.4 pounds in 5 days since I started Vielight 810 treatments, 2 per day.  Amazing.   The light treatments have sped up weight loss from 0 pounds the week before the 15th, to 4.4 pounds in 5 days.  I am beginning to suspect a detox reaction to the light.  If so, better out than in, as my body has decided.  I am not burning more calories to produce that weight loss, because my glucose readings are coming in as usual during the day.  So, it must be that the light has given my body enough energy to send all the undesirables out fast.

I had to take 10 IU Lantus yesterday because my post-prandial was over 200 after lunch.  But the really good news is that my fasting is 107 this morning, which means those units of Lantus hit a lot harder than usual.  This indicates increasing sensitivity to insulin, which is a very good sign.  I’ll take it.

So, here are my stats:

Weight 146.4    FBS 107   Fat% 32.9

And here is the menu for today:

BREAKFAST:  1/2 Slim-fast Protein Drink

LUNCH:  Mission Carb Balance Tortilla, 1 slice Jack Daniels Boneless Pork Ribs, romaine, 5 grapes

DINNER:  1 whole Slim-Fast Protein Drink, 3/4 cup Progresso Hearty Chicken and Rotini soup, salad, 5 Toasted crackers

DAY 62: 800 CAL DIET PLUS VIELIGHT 810 TO PUT DIABETES T2 INTO REMISSION WITH REAL FOOD

This morning, I am exactly where I was yesterday, but I don’t have room to fuss.  I have lost 3 whole pounds since I turned the light on four days ago.  This will be my 5th day with the Vielight 810.  And remember, the whole last week before the Vielight had no weight loss at all.  I just keep recording, but I am still amazed.  This equals the weight loss of the very first week when all the easy weight came off.

And, my fasting glucose is down by 5 points, but I am not too excited yet – too little, and probably within the range of error for my meter.  Again, I keep watching.  I did not have to take insulin yesterday because my post-prandial was not above 200, so this is my unmedicated fasting glucose.  I am winning the game when the fasting blood glucose approaches 100 or less.

So, here are my stats for today:

Weight 147.8   FBS 145   Fat% 33.3

And here is the menu:

BREAKFAST:  1/2 Slim-Fast Protein Drink

LUNCH:  Mission Carb Balance tortilla, 1 piece Van de Kamps Breaded Fish for Sandwiches, romaine

DINNER:  1 whole Slim-Fast Protein Drink, 1 cup Cugino’s Burgundy French Onion Soup, salad, 5 Toasted Crackers

DAY 61: 800 CAL DIET PLUS VIELIGHT 810 TO PUT DIABETES T2 INTO REMISSION WITH REAL FOOD

We’re cooking now!  Another entire pound is gone this morning.  Ever since I started to use the Vielight, I turned a week of no weight loss at all (150. 8 pounds bouncing around for 7 days from 11/7 to 11/15 with no weight loss) into weight loss EVERY DAY since I started the Vielight 810 on this 800 calorie diet.  I am amazed, but I don’t know how long it will continue.  I quit dieting when I weigh 140.

By the way, I used a home A1C test kit yesterday.  My A1C has come down from 7.6 to 7.3 on the diet alone. So, the task is to follow this weight loss until I weigh 140, and take my A1c in another 3 months.  This will record progress with the diet and Vielight 810, and then the Vielight alone to fill out the three months.  I will blog about all of it.

So, here are my stats:   (I will have to take 10 units insulin today after lunch due to rising blood sugar this morning.)

Weight 147.2   FBS 162  Fat% 33.5

And here is the menu:

BREAKFAST:  1/2 Slim-Fast Protein Drink

LUNCH:  Mission Carb Balance Tortilla, 1 griiled link Sam’s Choice Chicken and Apple Sausage, romaine, 5 grapes

DINNER:  1 whole Slim-Fast Protein Drink, 1 cup Pacific Roasted Red Pepper and Tomato Soup, salad, 5 crackers, 1 dried apricot

DAY 60: 800 CAL DIET PLUS VIELIGHT 810 TO PUT DIABETES INTO REMISSION WITH REAL FOOD

OK, another half pound gone, and it’s OK with me.  Since I started the Vielight 810  three days ago, I have had a bowel movement every morning, which was not happening on the diet alone.  I attribute this to the unclumping of blood platelets and the manufacture of structured water within the body, with the addition of extra energy from the Vielight.  ( See Dr. Gerald Pollack and EZ-water, made by light.)   Whatever the reason, I am grateful.

My fasting glucose is back up (all insulin taken on 11/15 gone now) so we will have to wait for progress on that again.

So here are my stats:

Weight 148.8, FBS 151, Fat% 33.6

And here is the menu:

BREAKFAST:  1/2 Slim-Fast Protein Drink

LUNCH:  Mission Carb Balance Tortilla, 2 oz sirloin steak, musrooms, onions, romaine, 5 grapes

DINNER:  1 whole Slim-Fast protein drink, 1 cup Progresso Chickarina Chicken and Meatballs Soup, salad, 5 Toasted crackers, 1 dried apricot

DAY 59: 800 CAL DIET PLUS VIELIGHT 810 TO PUT DIABETES T2 INTO REMISSION WITH REAL FOOD

On the road again….. I lost another half pound this morning.  I’m pleased.  And here is what I have learned so far from this diet.

  1. Even though I already lost 125 pounds, I am still diabetic because I did not get the last of the fat out of my pancreas and liver.  The Newcastle study showed that as little as 1 gram of fat out of the pancreas will reverse diabetes type 2. That is what I am seeing now, and the fat percent is dropping about 3% per month.  I should be done within a month.
  2. Twenty five grams of fiber on 800 calories is an entirely different thing from 25 grams of fiber on 1600 calories.  Movement is much slower through the intestinal tract, and sometimes external forces are needed.  I use natural methods only, like rolling on my tummy, more water and raw veggies, and rubbing magnesium oil on my tummy.  Works every time.
  3. You can indeed lose weight on grocery store food, using protein drinks enough to balance protein and carbs.  And so far, I’ve lost 20.5 pounds on the 800 calories, in 60 days.  Newcastle Study participants lost an average of 22 pounds in two months.  I am convinced the difference lies in those potato chips I ate in the first week!
  4. Now that I am using the Vielight 810, much of my low energy that comes from eating not quite enough food for a long time has disappeared.  In other words, my energy is picking up.  I can hardly wait to see the fasting blood sugar drop.  This morning’s fasting glucose reading is at least in part due to insulin I took day before yesterday.  If my pancreas is not damaged too badly, we should see that fasting glucose number come down with the use of the diet and the light.
So, here are my stats for today:

Weight 149.2, FBS 128, Fat% 33.6

And here is the menu:

BREAKFAST:  ½ Slim-Fast Protein drink

LUNCH:  Mission Carb Balance Tortilla, 3 oz Mistica Ranch Cheez-it Coated Chicken Bites, romaine, 5 grapes

DINNER:  1 whole Slim-Fast Protein Drink, 1 cup Progresso LIGHT Chicken and Cheese Enchilada Soup, salad, 5 Toasted crackers, 2 dried apricots

DAY 58: 800 CAL DIET PLUS VIELIGHT 810 TO PUT DIABETES T2 INTO REMISSION WITH REAL FOOD

I lost 1 pound and saw the bottom side of 150 this morning, but the really good news is that my fat percent is way down, by a whole point.  It bears good tidings for tomorrow.  The weight loss has really slowed down, but I have had my first Vielight 810 treatments.

I had to take 10IU of Lantus yesterday because of a post-prandial high of 200.  My fasting is down as a result.

But my energy level is way up.  The Vielight treatments make my blood cells break up their stickiness and carry more oxygen as an immediate result.  I certainly felt that yesterday, and did my chores with renewed enthusiasm, not easy on 800 calories.  Other immediate benefits are better sleep, as well as reduced glucose readings.  I have not seen that yet, but give it time.

Here are my stats for the day:

Weight 149.6, FBS 139, Fat% 32.6

And here is the menu:

BREAKFAST:  1/2 Slim-Fast Protein Drink

LUNCH:  Mission Carb Balance tortilla, 1/4 cup Marketside tuna salad, romaine, 1 dried apricot

DINNER:  1 whole Slim-Fast Protein Drink, 1 cup Cugino’s Burgundy French Onion Soup, salad, 5 Toasted crackers, Dole Peach Cup

DAY 57: 800 CAL DIET PLUS VIELIGHT 810 TO PUT DIABETES T2 INTO REMISSION WITH REAL FOOD

Not good. I have spent the last week bouncing on and off 150 pounds, with no further weight loss.  Luckily, I can outlast it.  And, I had my first Vielight 810 treatment this morning, and will take another 25 minute treatment before bed.

I won’t bear down on the benefits of the Vielight 810, but I am using it for metabolic enhancement.  You can see all the other benefits by doing your own research.  I think, from the testimonial on You-Tube, that I can expect a significant drop in my A1c within three months.  I won’t be dieting that long, so I will only post the stats and menu for the days I am dieting.  I continue for now.

So, here are my stats:

Weight 150.8, FBS 150, Fat% 34.2

And here is the menu for the day:

BREAKFAST:  1/2 Slim-Fast Protein Drink

LUNCH:  Mission Carb Balance tortilla, 1 grilled link Sam’s Choice Chicken and Apple Sausage, romaine, 5 grapes

DINNER:  1 whole Slim-Fast Protein Drink, 1 cup Allessi Split Pea Soup, salad, 5 Toasted Crackers, 1 dried apricot

DAY 56: 800 CAL DIET TO PUT DIABETES T2 INTO REMISSION WITH REAL FOOD

Today is the last day of the diet alone, and the scale went up this morning, just to defy me.  Not by much, but I probably won’t make it to 148 by tomorrow morning.  Oh, well, I plan to add the heavy artillery tomorrow in the form of my first Vielight 810 treatments, and stay on the diet until I weigh 140.

The menu pattern is easy and no-cook for the most part.  Thanks for putting up with me while I blog.  Not so exciting on a day to day basis, but the enticement of no insulin will keep me going.  I am pretty sure I am the only one that will be recording results on 800 calories and the Vielight 810.  Science calls.

So, here are my stats:

Weight 149.2, FBS 150, Fat% 34.2

And here is the menu:

BREAKFAST:  1/2 Slim-Fast Protein Shake

LUNCH:  Mission Carb Balance Tortilla, 2 oz grilled sirloin steak, romaine, 5 grapes

DINNER:  1 whole Slim-Fast Protein Drink, 3/4 cup Progresso Chicken Cheese Enchilada soup, salad, 5 Toasted crackers, 1 dried apricot

Total Calories 798, Total Fat 43 gm, Total Carbs 55 gm, Total Protein 59 gm, Total Fiber 22 gm, total Net Carbs 33 gm.

DAY 55: 800 CAL DIET TO PUT DIABETES T2 INTO REMISSION WITH REAL FOOD

I think I am going to hit my goal of 148 pounds in the last 8 weeks of 800 calorie dieting with real food.  I lost one whole pound when I weighed this morning.  Tomorrow, I hope to weigh 148 plus some ounces.  That would be the same as the average weight loss of the original 11 participants in the Newcastle experiment.  They learned a lot in that experiment.  Type 2 diabetes is reversible, and what makes it reverse is the loss of fat from the pancreas and liver.  22 pounds did the trick for those 11 participants.  They all reversed. They learned it only takes 1 gram of fat out of the pancreas to reverse diabetes type 2, through the use of MRI machines as they lost weight.

But not me, not yet.  The encouraging part is for the last two mornings, including today, my fasting blood glucose has come down almost 20 points.  It was 139 this morning and 133 yesterday.  I am at 34% fat, having lost about 3% per month.  Looks like it should take another month to get me down to 31%, which I hope will be enough fat gone.

So, here are my stats for the day:

Weight 149.4   FBS 139, Fat% 34.6

And here is the menu:

BREAKFAST:  1/2 Slim-Fast Protein Drink

LUNCH:  Mission Carb Control tortilla, 1/4 pkg. Marketside Kung Pao Chicken, romaine, one dried apricot

DINNER:  1 whole Slim-Fast Protein Drink, 1 cup Progresso Hearty Chicken & Rotini soup, salad, 5 Toasted crackers, 5 grapes

Total Calories 799, Total Fat 34 gm, Total Carbs 73 gm, Total Protein 58 gm, Total Fiber 21 gm, Total Net Carbs 52 gm  .

DAY 54: 800 CAL DIET TO PUT DIABETES T2 INTO REMISSION WITH REAL FOOD

I have a couple of items to celebrate this morning.  And one to let pass, so to speak.  My items to celebrate include a lowest ever fasting blood glucose reading, and the other item is that my Tanita scale signaled me that I am in the “Normal” Fat Percent range, instead of “Overweight” for the first time.  Other than that, I gained half a pound but we’ll see about that tomorrow.

Here are my stats for today:

Weight 150.4, FBS 133, Fat% 33.7

And here is the menu:

BREAKFAST:  1/2 Slim-Fast Protein Shake

LUNCH:  Mission Carb Balance tortilla, 1 link (grilled) Sam’s Choice Chicken Apple Sausage, romaine, 1 dried apricot

DINNER:  1 whole Slim-Fast protein drink, 1 cup Pacific Roasted Red Pepper and Tomato Soup, salad, 5 Toasted crackers, 5 grapes

Total Calories 794, Total Fat 35 gm, Total Carbs 68 gm, Total Protein 59 gm, Total Fiber 22 gm, Total Net Carbs 46 gm.

Note:  I got the Pacific Roasted Red pepper and Tomato Soup from Vitacost.com.

DAY 53: 800 CAL DIET TO PUT DIABETES T2 INTO REMISSION WITH REAL FOOD

Ah, yes.  I lost almost a pound when I weighed this morning.  That breaks that barrier at 150 pounds.  I am hoping to weigh 148 by Wednesday next week.  That would equal the 22 pound average weight loss in the initial Newcastle study, and I did it with real food and without cooking too much, using brands from any grocery store.  I’ll summarize what I learned next week.

Here are my stats:

Weight 149.8, FBS 148, Fat% 34.8

And here is the menu for today.  Thought I would do a fish wrap at lunch.  Minimal cooking in the oven.

BREAKFAST:  1/2 Slim-Fast Protein Shake

LUNCH:  Mission Carb Balance tortilla, 1 piece Van De Kamp’s Breaded Fish for Sandwiches, romaine

DINNER:  1 whole Slim-Fast Protein Drink, 1 cup Cugino’s Burgundy French Onion Soup, salad, 5 Toasted crackers

My fat percent, however, is now the lowest it has been in my adult life.

Here are my stats:

Weight 150.6, FBS 158, Fat% 34

And here is the menu:

BREAKFAST:  1/2 Slim-Fast Protein Drink

LUNCH:  Mission Carb Balance Tortilla, 2 oz Jack Daniels Thinly Sliced Beef Brisket, or 2 oz roast beef, romaine

DAY 51: 800 CAL DIET TO PUT DIABETES T2 INTO REMISSION WITH REAL FOOD

Good and bad news this morning.  I lost half a pound (good) but my fasting glucose went up.  So the indications are that I will have to use the Vielight 810 for progress in that area.  If I were to go back to my normal eating patterns before transformation of my fasting glucose to near normal, I would be using the same 28 units of insulin twice daily.  So, I will continue to lose weight down to 140 while I use the light and the diet.  After I weigh 140, I will use the light by itself and record any changes on this blog.

This is the six-day countdown for the end of the diet by itself.  Wednesday of next week will be the last day.  On Thursday next week, I start two sessions daily of 25 minutes each with the Vielight.  I have no idea what to expect, nor how fast.  I do expect the 800 calorie diet to work faster due to increased ATP production, but I don't know how long it will take to show up.

I am getting my A1C test on Friday after the eight weeks are up.  That way, another A1C test will show what that Vielight 810 is doing.

Here are my stats:

Weight 150.2, FBS 155, Fat% 34.6

And here is the menu for today:

BREAKFAST:  1/2 Slim-Fast Protein Shake

LUNCH:  Mission Carb Balance Tortilla, 1/4 cup Marketside Tuna Salad, romaine, Dole Peach Cup

DINNER:  1 whole Slim-Fast Protein Drink, 1 cup Cugino’s Burgundy French Onion Soup, salad, 5 Toasted crackers

DAY 50: 800 CAL DIET TO PUT DIABETES T2 INTO REMISSION WITH REAL FOOD

No weight loss this morning, everything is exactly the same.  I managed to eke out a 2.8 weight loss in the last 7 days. I guess that is slower than the first weeks, but not by much.  So, maybe this saga will continue on my way to 140.

The really encouraging thing this morning is that my fasting blood glucose is down by 10 points, and no insulin yesterday.  This is a ray of hope that the fasting glucose will come down and I will have some chance of getting off insulin.

Here are my stats:

Weight 150.8, FBS 141, Fat% 34.9

And here is the menu for the day:

BREAKFAST:  1/2 Slim-Fast Protein Drink

LUNCH:  Mission Carb Balance Tortilla, 2 oz Hormel Roast Beef Au Jus, romaine, 5 grapes

DAY 49: 800 CAL DIET TO PUT DIABETES T2 INTO REMISSION WITH REAL FOOD

Good, good, good.  I lost 1.4 pounds when I weighed this morning.  Only one week and two pounds to go and I will have lost as much on real food as the initial test did with only protein drinks and 200 calories of non starchy veggies.  I will have more notes next Wednesday to summarize what I learned.

I had to take 10IU Lantus yesterday, so I am still a non-responder.  I suppose it could be a threshold thing, and that by the end of this part of the diet, I could be off insulin.  But I doubt it.  I think it is going to take the extra added energy into my brain from the Vielight 810 to make any further progress on not taking insulin.

Here are my stats for the day:

Weight 150.8, FBS 152, Fat% 35.7

And here is the menu for today:

BREAKFAST:  1/2 Slim-Fast Protein Drink

LUNCH:  Mission Carb Balance tortilla, 2 oz uncured ham, romaine, 5 grapes

DINNER:  1 whole Slim-Fast Protein Drink, 1 cup Progresso Tomato Florentine with Italian Sausage soup, salad, 5 Toasted crackers

DAY 48: 800 CAL DIET TO PUT DIABETES T2 INTO REMISSION WITH REAL FOOD

I lost a half pound of weight this morning  That makes 1 lb in the last four days.  Fat percent is way down, over a point, but I seem to be stuck at 152 the same way I was stuck at my old metabolic set-point of 162, ten pounds above.  I figured I would be slowing down.  But at this point I don't know the cause.

Here are my stats:

Weight 152.2, FBS 147, Fat% 34.3

And here is the menu:

BREAKFAST:  1/2 Slim-Fast Protein Drink

LUNCH:  Mission Carb Balance Tortilla, 2 oz Jack Daniels Thinly Sliced Brisket or 2 oz roast beef, romaine, 5 grapes

DINNER:   1 whole Slim-Fast Protein Drink, 3/4 cup Progresso Chickarina Chicken Soup and Meatballs, salad, 5 Toasted crackers

DAY 47: 800 CAL DIET TO PUT DIABETES T2 INTO REMISSION WITH REAL FOOD

Again, no weight loss.  I  am pretty sure the rate of loss is slowing down, but two weeks will tell the tale.  Then we continue with the diet and the Vielight 810 to increase ATP production (calorie burning.)  I lost an average of 3 pounds per week in the first 6 weeks, and I think it will slow down to 2 pounds per week or so as I finish the 8 weeks with diet alone.

I had to take 10 units of Lantus yesterday because my post-prandial high was over 200.  My fasting blood glucose is lower this morning because of it, but I don’t want to hide the fasting reading, so I can see what is happening every day with it.  It is still unreasonably high.   My other post-prandial readings are mostly less than 180, so the 10 units I take about every 3 or 4 days will have to do until I start using the light.  One Type 2 diabetic lady has a testimonial on You-Tube saying she went from 7.2 A1c to 5.1 A1c in three months with twice daily use of the light at 25 minutes each, with no change in diet.  I can hardly wait to see what it does on an 800 calorie diet.

Here are the stats for the day:

Weight 152.6, FBS 140, Fat% 36.1

And here is the menu:

BREAKFAST:  1/2 Slim-Fast Protein Drink

LUNCH:  Mission Carb Balance Tortilla, 3 oz Mistica Cheez-it Coated Chicken Bites, romaine

DINNER:  1 whole Slim-fast Protein Drink, 1 canister Campbell’s Cheesy Potato with Bacon Soup on the Go, salad, 5 Toasted Crackers

DAY 46: 800 CAL DIET TO PUT DIABETES T2 INTO REMISSION WITH REAL FOOD

No weight loss this morning. I am ever hopeful that the last two weeks of this diet will see me at 148, a loss of 22 pounds.  This was the average weight loss of all the Newcastle Diet participants over 8 weeks.  What this means is that as long as you have a good balance of fat, protein, carbs, and fiber, you can indeed use ordinary food to do the weight loss, rather than the all protein drink and 200 calories of non-starch veggies that the study participants did.  I am sure they felt weak, constipated, and listless after their 8 weeks.

At this point, I would be classified as a non-responder in that diet because my fasting blood glucose has remained really high.  But we still have two weeks to go on the diet, then I am going on with the diet and the Vielight 810 for as much as another month.  After I hit 140, I will go off the diet and cautiously start adding food back in.  I will start with adding nuts and dried fruit, which I am craving constantly now, and then sourdough bread.  Both of these have a glycemic index like fruit and veggies, so that would be a first good choice to increase calories.  After that, beans, sweet potatoes and starchy veggies.  Add calories back in slowly, so I will try adding 200 calories per week when I “graduate.”  The Vielight 810 should increase my calorie burning over time, but I cannot assess right now what my upper limit for calories will be without gaining weight, after dieting.

Here are my stats for the day:

Weight 152.4, FBS 154, Fat% 34.9

Here is the menu for the day:

BREAKFAST:  1/2 Slim-Fast Protein Shake

LUNCH:  Mission Carb Balance Tortilla, 1/4 cup Marketside Tuna Salad, romaine, Dole Peach Cup

DINNER:  1 whole Slim-Fast Protein Drink, 1 cup Cugino’s Burgundy French Onion Soup, salad, 5 Toasted crackers, 1 dried apricot

DAY 45: 800 CAL DIET TO PUT DIABETES T2 INTO REMISSION WITH REAL FOOD

I lost 1/2 pound, and a whole point in fat percent since yesterday.  I suspect the weight loss will slow down from here, but I don’t know for sure.  Patience.  800 calories always wins, I think.

I start the Vielight 810 treatments on Nov 16, after the eight weeks are up for just the diet.  The diet and light will continue until I weigh 140.  I hope by then I will be normalized, and off insulin.  It is OK if I am not.  A pancreas can only take so much, and mine has taken a severe beating.  But I will use these natural methods to get as far as I can.

Here are my stats:

Weight 152.4, FBS 150, Fat% 34.8

Here is the menu for the day:

BREAKFAST:  1/2 Slim-Fast Protein Drink

DAY 44: 800 CAL DIET TO PUT DIABETES T2 INTO REMISSION WITH REAL FOOD

Still no weight loss, but I remind myself that there will be lots of days I don’t lose weight. Overall, this is an easy diet to work with, because there is no hunger after the first few days. I’ll be able to do this until I hit my desired weight.

I was hoping my pancreas would make the morning fasting blood glucose come down by now.  It has not, and it may be the first indication that my pancreas is making all the insulin it can for the 800 calories, and it is still not enough.  If this is the case, then I really need the Vielight to help.  The Vielight increases ATP production.  Translate that into body speak by understanding that means burning calories.  Just what I need.  We’ll see if it helps.

Here are my stats for the day:

Weight 153.2, FBS 180 (10IU Lantus), Fat% 35.4

Here is the menu for the day:

BREAKFAST:  1/2 Slim-Fast Protein Drink

DAY 43: 800 CAL DIET TO PUT DIABETES T2 INTO REMISSION WITH REAL FOOD

No weight loss this morning, but after the last few days of fast weight loss, I can live with it.  Tomorrow is another day.  And no, I did not let a single piece of candy pass my lips on Halloween.  Getting off insulin is that important to me.

While my body decides to take a break, I thought I would include a link that explains the science behind the Vielight 810 for diabetes.  Here is the link, and please continue your research.

Here area my stats for the day:

DAY 42: 800 CAL DIET TO PUT DIABETES T2 INTO REMISSION WITH REAL FOOD

I lost another eight tenths of a pound since yesterday. So, keep on keepin’ on.  This is the last two weeks of eight.  I have lost 17 pounds, so far,  and I am within 10 pounds of my normal desired weight, 140 to 145.

After the next two weeks, I will keep up the diet (if I am not yet at my desired weight) and add the Vielight 810 for 50 minutes daily.

Here are my stats:

Weight 153.2, FBS 160, Fat% 35.2

Here is the menu for the day:  (remember you can substitute another day for any day's menu)

BREAKFAST:  ½ Slim-Fast Protein Drink

LUNCH: Mission Carb Balance Tortilla, 3 oz Mistica Ranch Cheez-it Coated Chicken Bites, romaine

DINNER:  1 whole Slim-Fast Protein Drink, 1 cup Campbells Grilled Sirloin Steak and Hearty Vegetables soup, salad, 5 Toasted crackers

Total Calories 797, Total Fat 37 gm, Total Carbs 66 gm, Total Protein 56 gm, Total Fiber 22 gm, Total Net Carbs 44 gm

PS.  I WILL MAKE IT THROUGH HALLOWEEN WITHOUT LETTING A SINGLE PIECE OF CANDY PAST MY LIPS.  I already feel horrible, as a diabetic, handing out candy at all.  Anything else is just too expensive and the kids get disappointed.  Due to family diligence, my granddaughter is still eating 1 piece of candy daily from last year.

DAY 41: 800 CAL DIET TO PUT DIABETES T2 INTO REMISSION WITH REAL FOOD

I lost another 8 tenths of a pound when I weighed this morning.  Not much, but I will take it.  Fat percent is dropping, too, another whole point, so maybe tomorrow I will see greater loss.

This is the last two weeks of doing the diet with no technology to boost results.  On Nov 15th, I will record the data from the last day of the diet alone.  I will look at how much weight I lost as a weekly average for the eight weeks, and compare the next weeks to the diet plus the Vielight 810.  There should be a measurable drop in blood glucose averages, and also an acceleration in weight loss.   My desired weight is 140 to 145.  Another big goal of adding the Vielight 810 is to get off insulin, as others have gotten off their medications with use of the light.  I am prepared to accept any outcomes, whether they are negative or not.

Here are my stats for the day:

Weight 154,   FBS 60,  Fat% 34.9

Here is the menu for the day:

BREAKFAST:  1/2 Slim-Fast Protein Drink

LUNCH:  Mission Carb Balance Tortilla, 2 oz uncured pulled pork, romaine, apple

DAY 39: 800 CAL DIET TO PUT DIABETES T2 INTO REMISSION WITH REAL FOOD

This morning, I weigh about what I did yesterday.  I did not expect a lot of progress today after losing 2.4 pounds this week.  It’s OK.

I will be adding a technology to the diet after day 56, or 8 weeks into the diet.  The new technology is a Vielight, which I will clip on my nose for 50 minutes daily.  The light adds infrared light energy to the areas of the brain behind the nose and can change things for the better in human physiology.  The Vielight has been shown to reduce blood glucose, increase good cholesterol, and help Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s patients recover.  I will be using it to help me get off insulin if the diet has not already done so.  Wish me luck.

There is a lady on You-Tube whose A1C has gone down from 7.5 to 5.1 with the use of the Vielight.  I am really excited about adding the Vielight after Day 56.  Do the research on the Vielight 810, on You-Tube and in text, so you can follow what I am doing.

Of course, I will also record any changes in the blog here.  It could be that I will not be successful in getting off insulin.  I am one of the people who had pancreatic surgery some years ago, and they have just identified a new type of diabetes, Type 3c.  People that have undergone damage to the pancreas have been identified with this new type of diabetes .  I had gallstone pancreatitis in 1995, and have been on insulin since they removed half my pancreas.  I am prepared to accept any outcome, and would be happy just to take my insulin needs way down.  I have done that so far, going from 28 units twice daily to 10 units every 3 days when I am eating 800 calories.  If I take the weight off, and still need insulin, that will be my Type 3c Diabetes diagnosis, rather than Type 2.

DAY 38: 800 CAL DIET TO PUT DIABETES T2 INTO REMISSION WITH REAL FOOD

That’s even better!  I lost 1.6 pounds this morning when I weighed.  That marks 2.4 pounds this week.  And it is following the pattern of continued weight loss after a stall.  It should continue without stalling if I don’t eat anything outside the diet.  I have learned my lesson.  My fat percent is still down, relatively speaking.

DAY 37: 800 CAL DIET TO PUT DIABETES T2 INTO REMISSION WITH REAL FOOD

That’s better!  I lost almost a whole pound this morning, as my fat percent drop yesterday prophesized. My fat percent this morning is a new record low, too.

Once I start losing weight again after a stall, it usually keeps coming off until the next stall.  I will make notes as to which foods put me into a stall when I summarize what I learned from the diet.  So far I have learned that salt, potato chips, and rice can set me back for days.  I knew about the rice from my weight loss at 1200 calories, but the chips showed up on this lower calorie diet as a major impediment.  Note to self:  no more chicken and rice soup, no more chips, EVER.  Perhaps if I lose the diabetes, I will lose those sensitivities, but somehow I doubt it.  I just hope I can eat rice again after I am normalized.

DAY 35: 800 CAL DIET TO PUT DIABETES T2 INTO REMISSION WITH REAL FOOD

Bad news this morning.  I gained 1.2 pounds suddenly, overnight.  The last time this happened, I had eaten salty potato chips.  I think it was the chicken and wild rice soup last night, very salty and very ricey.  Never again.  That will set me back a week.  Luckily, I know how to lose it.  Keep on.

I HAVE ADDED A NOTE TO YESTERDAY'S POST NOT TO USE THE CHICKEN AND WILD RICE SOUP.  CUGINO'S BURGUNDY FRENCH ONION SOUP IS A GOOD REPLACEMENT.

Wow!  I lost 1.6 pounds since yesterday.  This is screaming fast weight loss.  I will take it.  But my fasting blood sugar rose so high I had to take Lantus this am.  It will help…for now.  I hope to be done with insulin and this diet at the end of day 56.  If not, I have other tricks up my sleeve.

DAY 32: 800 CAL DIET TO PUT DIABETES T2 INTO REMISSION WITH REAL FOOD

The weight seems to be coming off at a steady ½ pound per day loss now.  I lost six tenths of a pound overnight. My fasting blood sugar is up to 154, so I will likely take insulin today, but I never hit 200 post prandial yesterday so I put it off.  It looks like I will have to have it today, but we will see.

I am really looking forward to lunch today, as it is bbq beef brisket in that tortilla.  I grew up in the south, and in a part of the country where it is a sin to put any sauce at all on  the hardwood smoked brisket.  They hand you a tomato and onion to go with the beer and bbq brisket and no one dares ask for sauce because the 25 foot long smoke pipe and a good rub does it all.  So, I will scrape the sauce off the brisket from Jack Daniels, and be happy that at least I have brisket. I bought the Jack Daniels Beef Brisket at Walmart.

Here are my stats for the day:

Weight 158.2, FBS 154, Fat% 36.6

Here is the menu for the day:

BREAKFAST:  1/2 Slim-Fast Protein Shake  (use the 20 gm protein kind)

LUNCH:  Mission Carb Balance Tortilla, 2 oz Jack Daniels  bbq beef brisket or 2 oz  roast beef, 5 grapes

DINNER:  1 whole Slim-Fast Protein Drink, 1 cup Progresso Light Chicken Noodle Soup, salad, 5 Toasted Crackers
